Acoustic Treatment

Not all rooms sound great; we can help you create exactly the kind of listening space you want, no matter what size. Our team of world class acousticians and audio engineers have worked on just about everything: custom installations, home theaters, listening bars and lounges, private clubs and even large concert halls and recording studios. We even design and build several lines of acoustic treatments that can be tailored to your room, interior decor and listening preferences.
What are 'acoustic treatments'?
The term is shorthand for anything you place in a space to change its sonic character. A heavily upholstered chair is an acoustic treatment because it will absorb sound, for example. The 1D and 3D diffusors we build diffuse reflected sound that bounces off the walls and ceiling to make them less objectionable, while keeping the energy of the music in the room. A judicious mixture of acoustic treatents, typically absorption and diffusion, can transform a room from barely listenable to a magical experience. Not all rooms require treatment, but if you want to build a listening space from scratch or fix a room that sounds too bright we can work with your architect and designer to guide and inform the process.
Because OMA (and also Fleetwood Sound Co.) create horn loaded loudspeakers with highly controlled directivity (a good thing) the way our speakers work is different from conventional or other horns speakers, and our approach to acoustic design is also unique. Let OMA help you achieve the best possible sound.
1D Diffusor panels, freestanding
These panels can be placed in the middle of the room, while traditionally they’ve been mounted on the walls of recording studios. Because they diffuse the sound in 1 dimension - horizontal, they are referred to as 1D as opposed to 3D or quadratic diffusors. Placed behind our speakers they change the soundscape of the room, placed on walls they break up unwanted sound reflections.
Gaussian Diffusor
This diffusor type can be used on room boundaries or free standing, and operates lower in frequency than the 1D Diffusor
Absorption Panels
These panels have two sides, with differing levels of absorption, to provide maximum flexibility. Available free standing or wall mounted. Specs on request.
